Date: Thursday 1 December 2011 Time: 12 to 2pm (best time for photographs would be approx. 12.45 when the awards are handed out) Venue: Valentines Mansion, Emerson Road, Ilford IG1 4XA The Worshipful the Mayor, Councillor Chris Cummins will present the best of all award recognising Redbridge's best bar. Senior officers from Fire, Police and the NHS will be there to support the awards. Pubs, clubs and bars in Redbridge have a chance to show that they’re Best Bar None as part of a national scheme to cut crime and raise the quality of licensed premises.
The award-winning voluntary programme aims to improve safety and security, give public confidence, lower alcohol related crime and encourage excellence in pub and club management. Best Bar None works by getting premises to work in partnership with the Council, Police and Fire Brigade to bring their establishment up to high-quality standards set out by nationally recognised criteria. Those who apply for Best Bar None accreditation have their premises inspected by a representatives from the Council, Police and Fire Brigade and are marked on required standards which are: * The prevention of crime and disorder * Promoting public safety * Prevention of public nuisance * protecting children from harm. All get feedback on their assessment so they can understand their strengths and weaknesses and make improvements. Those who meet the high standards are awarded Best Bar None accreditation.
