Last night saw the glitz and glamour of the second Durham City Best Bar None awards where Loft was crowned ‘Best Bar None’ 2009 Almost all of the City’s bars and pubs were represented at the awards night where they saw the Viamac owned Loft, win their category of Best nightclub before being judged ‘best of the best’ by the judges. Scott Guy, Manger of the venue said it was a great feeling to get the top prize: “ We were very please to keep hold of the Best Club win that we got last year but when the top prize was announced – well words fail you!”
Carol Feenan, BBN Manager and Assessor was pleased that the standards are improving all the time: “The standards were much higher this year, with a 100% pass rate, including six new premises taking part for the first time. Putting customer safety and security at the forefront of their operations was certainly evident. Their continued support to work in partnership with the Police and County Council will ensure we can jointly provide an even safer and enjoyable experience for everyone visiting our fantastic city at night.” All of the accredited bars are allowed to display their accreditation along with the Best Bar None logo. Category winners also receive a trophy to display in their premises.
